Founded in 2012, Exacta Systems is a successful U.S.-based gaming technology company known for its historical horse-racing software and terminals. The executive team asked Plan A to assist them with three specific needs:

• QA work.
• A whole new UI design for their marquee product.
• Front-end development help to upgrade everything to the latest version of Angular.

Plan A’s engineers upgraded Exacta’s platform to the latest version of Angular and added new functionality in the process. Plan A also addressed outstanding bugs, and implemented quite a few design upgrades across the board.

For the redesign, our designers and software engineers worked in close collaboration with Exacta’s development and brand teams, and delivered multiple new themes that combined a number of benefits:

• A more modern, easy to read user interface.
• Modern designs schemes that were in-line with Exacta’s branding guidelines and gave the games and the platform a more contemporary aesthetic.
• Customization functionality to allow Exacta clients to personalize their design with a simple drag-and-drop interface.
• Built-in data analytics capabilities that highlight customer behavior in real-time.

Plan A’s updates to Exacta’s tech, together with the horse-racing redesign, resulted in higher customer engagement and more flexibility. The new data analytics feature became a popular tool that allows for continuous, more precise and player-friendly improvements.

The drag-and-drop customization features were a big hit and were very well-received. One year after Plan A began working with Exacta, Exacta was acquired by Churchill Downs in a celebrated nine-figure deal.
