PG&E, serving Northern California, is one of the largest power and gas companies in the country. Their team identified several critical concepts that they wanted to teach their customers about: how to update their homes to be more energy efficient, safety precautions related to energy, and how to choose from a new group of rate plan options.
Our team built an interactive, web-based education platform that could be incorporated into all PG&E key digital touch points: their website, payment kiosks, emails, social media pages, and more. The platform incorporated interactive videos, Q&A, social sharing, and surveys to create a highly engaging and effective tool to educate the public. Our team designed both the platform and the user interfaces to explain ideas like using window shades and energy efficient appliances.
- The new education platform outperformed their previous educational tools by a wide margin, generally doubling most of the tracked KPIs.
- Surveys showed that customers were also more likely to remember information later.
- Nearly one third of the participants said that they intended to change their behaviors to be more energy efficient going forward.
